Come Forth as Gold

Jesus says in Revelation 3:18a, I counsel you to buy from me gold refined in the fire, so you can become rich. The question I might ask is, Just how do we buy this gold from God?  One  possible answer to this question I’ve personally experienced has come through my receiving gold as a byproduct and result of co-partnering with God in the refining fires that have come into my life.  As Job says in Job 23:10, But He knows the way that I take; when He has tested me, I will come forth as gold. In other words; not only is His Word a Gold Mine for our conquest, but we also are capable of coming forth as pure gold.

As we know, gold has varying amounts of value, which is dependent on its purity. The more pure it is, the more valuable.  Gold and silver are refined in fire for that very purpose; to remove the dross, or impurities; for the purer, the more valuable.  As with gold, we also can be refined in the fire (or tests) of life to become more pure.  God in His love allows those tests, knowing when we come through them, WE will BEcome rich.

In the dictionary, the word test is defined as, A procedure for critical evaluation and means of determining the presence, quality, or truth of something.  In the scientific field of chemistry, a test is administered to detect, measure, examine or produce physical or chemical changes in a substance, often with the goal of promoting a positive change or result. In Romans 12:1-2 the Apostle Paul urges us to present our bodies as living sacrifices, (willing to be tested), by no longer conforming to the pattern of this world, but instead being refined and transformed by the renewing of our minds.

One important way we can present ourselves as living sacrifices, is by allowing God unhindered access to those hidden places of our hearts. By an active choice of our free-will, and when vulnerably doing so,  we position ourselves to cooperate with God in the process of removing the dross and barriers in our lives that might be preventing Holy Spirit’s entrance. We thus surrender our shields of self-protection to and allow His entry. As we do so, our hearts open wide to intimacy with Him. Only then can He come in and speak liberally to us, revealing exactly where He sees as the need for change.

His goal and ultimate desire is to make us rich, by using these fires to shape us into the resemblance of His divine nature.  He longs to remove the dross of our human frailties, and transform them into the pure gold of His strength, while also removing such things as our resentments and anger, and replacing them with His supernatural grace and ability to love and forgive.

Our free-will being the most sacred thing He’s given us, means that choice  must be ours.  Only when we choose to become those living sacrifices can He enter and place us on the altar lit with refining fires. As we choose to yield, He will shape and transform our lives from the inside out, to His pattern of beauty and holiness. It can be painful at the time, but in the end, it hurts so good!

So today, I encourage you to fix your heart upon Him and allow Him full entry. When you do, be assured that He will transform and mold you through His Presence, and the life-giving power of His Holy Word.  As you behold Him and His glory, you will be changed into His likeness; refined, and come forth as pure gold.

And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord’s glory, are being transformed

into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.

2 Corinthian 3:18
