Light Unto My Heart

Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path.

Psalms 119:105

This past few days has been quite overwhelming for me emotionally, but this morning  being reminded that as Psalms 118:24 says, This is the day that the Lord has made, I  have made the choice to rejoice and be glad in it.  

Disappointments and losses can have a way of sucking the very life of God out of us……………….when we let them. It’s time this morning to allow my great Shepherd to lead me once more into green pastures and beside still waters and restore  my soul, so together we can remove those joy stealers.

As Psalms 119:105 says, His Word is the light that shines into the darkness of my despair, lighting up  my path and bringing with that light fresh hope.  As I spend time in the Word, He does leads me to the passages of green pasture that revive me………………..and I leave encouraged. I’d like to share with you some of them He so tenderly ministered to my aching heart this morning:

Jeremiah 17:7  But blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, whose confidence is in Him.  This reminded me that He can be trusted in every facet of my life, because when He is involved, anything can happen. When I realize this courage within arises once more to trust Him, no matter what I am facing, and softness of spirit reemerges as my gaze returns upward.

Romans 838-39 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.  What reassurance!  Nothing can separate me from His love. As I choose to focus on His presence instead of the presence of my problems I am being freed from captivity. As Gloria Gaither says, God walks with us.  He scoops us up in His arms or simply sits with us in silent strength until we cannot avoid the awesome recognition that yes, even now, He is here.

Philippians 4:6-7  Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. As I choose to stop complaining and grumbling and replace despair and resentment with prayer, humility, and thanksgiving, the peace of God returns. 

Philippians 4:11 I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. Choosing contentment no matter the circumstance brings me further release and calm.   Exchanging my frustrations and disappointments with an attitude of acceptance realizing my relationship with Him is more valuable than anything else restores my soul.

Philippians 4:13 I can do everything through him who gives me strength. Remembering that no matter what I am facing God will preserve me and give me the strength I need, brings me a new infusion of strength and hope to move forward in faith and confidence into this new day.

Philippians 4:8 Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.  Taking control of my negative thoughts and replacing them with thanksgiving for the blessings also brings freedom. Today you will encounter God’s creation. When you see the beauty around you, let each detail remind you to lift your head in praise.  Max Lucado

And the feeding goes on……………… long as I choose to eat.  It brings nourishment to my once malnourished heart and lights my path to move froward into another God blessed day! Why not take some time yourself to spend with the Great Shepherd feeding your spirit today?  I am sure He has a feast just waiting with your name on it!
