Bumps not Boulders

Today is a day for me to take own advice regarding the importance of perspective. Have you ever noticed how much easier it is sometimes to tell someone else what they need to do, than to do it yourself?  Well, today, that seems to be oh so true!  Lord, I need a godly perspective…………

I am in the midst of completing some big projects as well as transitioning into a new season………..and although things are moving forward, it is not without bumps in the road.  When those bumps arise, I sooooo need to remind myself to get a perspective remembering that bumps are exactly what they are not boulders.

I might have just tripped over one or two again and bruised  my knee, bringing with it an emotional, Ouch! but it is not as if I’ve been struck or plowed down, never to rise again.  Thinking about this reminds me of the passage in 2 Corinthians 4:8-9 that says, We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair;persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed.

When we all face such a crossroad, (which happens regularly), it is so important to make the choice to trust God, moment by moment, by rising up within my spirit and taking captive control of any thoughts that would lead me to do otherwise. Reminding our soul that we can trust God will bring relief and rest.  There is always HOPE in Him, as I’ve been blogging about, and yes, keeping this perspective at such times can be everything!

As I regain His perspective on the bumpy challenges I am facing today, I am freed from my own, which lifts my spirit back to that quiet place and sweet spot of peace and rest. It is always a choice and a choice that only I can make……….because the alternative is NOT a place I want to go.

This brings to remembrance Ralph Waldo Emerson’s quote, Sow a thought and you reap an action; sow an act and you reap a habit; sow a habit and you reap a character; sow a character and you reap a destiny.  Like I have said, perspective is everything and unless we take those thoughts captive, ultimately we will be sowing a destiny of angst into our lives. It’s a choice and one we each get to make daily, hourly, every minute, and even sometimes every second.

Why wait until the pain gets so bad you are forced to surrender?  Choose instead to surrender at the very onset of knowing your perspective has become cloudy so instead of tripping over that bump in the road you can skip over it, singing and rejoicing?

What really matters in life?  When you bring it all down to that one question answering it honestly, you realize that whatever is trying to rob you blindly will be brought into the light and as it is will quickly disappear from your path………………..smiling again!!
