A Winning Combination

Lately, the Lord has been reminding me of what I would like to call,  A Winning Combination. In chapter 12 of Revelation vs. 10-11, the Word says, Then I heard a loud voice in heaven say:Now have come the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God, and the authority of His Christ. For the accuser of our brothers, who accuses them before our God day and night, has been hurled down. They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death.

Although the literal context of this passage refers to the final blow and victory on that day when the Lord returns…………(Hallelujah!),I believe we can also apply its components to today’s realities to experience ongoing victory.  I call that a win~win, or winning combination.

In the passage above, the saints OVERCAME because of 3 reasons:

  • The blood of the Lamb
  • The Word of their testimony
  • They did not love their lives so much to shrink from death

First and foremost, Jesus, the pure and spotless substitutionary Lamb of God shed His sinless blood for the sole purpose of paying the penalty for ALL our sins.  And that means ALL!  In doing so, we are completely and irrevocably reconciled to God~which means totally forgiven and no longer under the curse.  His blood not only frees us from the judgement of God, but also from any and all accusations the enemy would want to yell~ or sometimes whisper in our ears.  When he does so (and he will), just remember to stand on this truth and plead the blood.  It will deliver you from all his attacks, as well as cover and protect you under the shadow of God’s almighty wings.

Secondly, the Word of our testimony brings with it ongoing victory in our daily lives.  As James says, There is life and death in the power of the tongue. God created the heavens and the earth by His Word.  There is power in His Word and when we align and agree with it by declaring it over our lives, it can create what it commands.   A powerful example of this biblical principle is found in Romans 10:9-1o where it says, That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.  For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.  We believe with our hearts, but with our mouth we confess (or declare), which activates the truth of His spiritual realities into our world.

Thirdly, and something the Lord has been speaking to me personally about is a willingness to surrender my wants and desires when He calls me to for the sake of obedience. This means even at the cost of my own reputation, comfort, vision, etc.  Cultivating the willingness to consistently lay down my life by saying,  Not my will but Thy will be done~whatever the cost Lord,  for the sake of Your glory Lord, can accomplish this goal. It is part of the ongoing process we call sanctification. Growth appears over time and takes time, but is of key importance to success in our formula for victory.

And one last ingredient I would like to mention is God’s grace.  He, most importantly must choose to honor and bless all our attempts to join Him in applying this winning combination to our lives.  The great news is He is faithful and His mercies are new every morning, so if you don’t succeed try, try again…..don ‘t ever give up, because He will never give up on you!
