Come What May

This year the Lord has put it in my heart to commit to some character goals.  One of those is in the area of contentment.  When Jesus was visiting Mary and Martha He had told Martha who seemed to be very preoccupied with the practical details of the visit (and also very discontent with her sister, Mary’s because of her lack of support), There’s really only one thing to be concerned about, and Mary has discovered it.

Have you like Mary, discovered it?  Or is your life still functioning more like Martha’s….busy about MUCH………………without MUCH contentment?  Mary spent her time and energy~ I am sure whenever possible sitting at the feet of Jesus.  To do so, she had to trust Him completely to provide for her needs, as well as choose to trust completely in what He chose to provide.

For me, this would describe contentment~ a state of serenity that flows out of trusting in God’s great sufficiency. Daily as work at making the choice to depend wholeheartedly upon Him for my sense of well-being and provision, whatever come what may~and when I do, I too, discover contentment.

Perspective is everything. Making the choice to BE content whatever the circumstance is the key. Finding my contentment not in the circumstance but in my trust for and in the Lord keeps my mind and thought controlled by my spirit, which ushers in fruit of contentment, life and peace.

Won’t you join me this year in making it one of your goals, like Mary, to sit at His daily and gaze into His loving Presence trusting He too will provide for you all your needs according to His riches in glory?

True godliness and contentment is great wealth.
